The Relationship Between Health Locus of Control (HLoC) and Family Support with Quality of Life in Patients with Chronic Kidney Failure Undergoing Hemodialis at the Jasmine Room of Murni Teguh Ciledug Hospital

Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has become a worldwide medical problem caused by the increasing number of deaths. One of the treatments used is hemodialysis. Unstable conditions and sometimes feeling ineffective from the treatment being undergone, are stressors and cause health locus of control to be disturbed. The need for family support is also related to the quality of life of patients with CKD. The research’s purpose was to identify the relationship between health locus of control (HLoC) and family support with the quality of life in patients undergoing Hemodialysis at the Jasmine Room of Murni Teguh Ciledug Hospital. Quantitative research method with cross-sectional correlation design using total sampling technique on 30 respondents. Data analysis using the Spearman Correlation test. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between HLoC and Quality of Life with p-value = 0.020 (α<0.05) and there was no relationship between Family Support and Quality of Life with p-value = 0.677 (α>0.05). It can be concluded that there is a relationship between HLoC and quality of life and there is no relationship between family support and quality of life in patients undergoing Hemodialysis at the Jasmine Room of Murni Teguh Ciledug Hospital. It is recommended for further researchers to add research variables such as knowledge, compliance education, and other factors that affect the CKD treatment process undergoing hemodialysis.
