Relationship Between Self-Care Management and Quality of Life in Hypertension Patients at Murni Teguh Horas Insani Hospital in Pematang Siantar

Patients diagnosed with hypertension can lose their freedom because they have rules that need to be considered so as not to worsen the patient's condition and the negative impact of the symptoms of the disease felt such as early morning headaches, nosebleeds, irregular heart rhythms, nausea and vomiting, changes in vision, and ringing in the ears. Hypertension has an impact on cerebral blood vessel bleeding, and paralysis. These symptoms greatly affect the patient's comfort of life because they can cause depression, anxiety, and fatigue. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-care management and quality of life in hypertensive patients. The study used quantitative with the correlation method. The population in this study was 118 people in January-April 2023 with 118 people and the number of samples was 55 people with purposive sampling technique. The instruments used were questionnaire sheets and bivariate data analysis using the Spearman rank test. The study results showed a relationship between self-care management and quality of life in hypertensive patients with a p-value of 0.005. It is recommended for further researchers to add variables such as a level of dependency, social relationships and family support that can improve the quality of life of hypertension patients.
