The Relationship Between Self-Concept and Self-Control with Sexual Behavior in Mid-Age Adolescents in Class XI at SMK Saraswati 1 Denpasar

Abstract

Adolescence is a period of rapid growth and development both physically, psychologically and intellectually. Their relationship with the opposite sex becomes more intimate and they start dating where sexual exploration allows for sexual intercourse. Their involvement in risky sexual behavior experiences sexual problems as part of the development of sexual maturity through curiosity about how to satisfy sexual demands and the desire to engage in sexual activity. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between self-concept and self-control with sexual behavior in middle-aged adolescents in Class XI at SMK Saraswati 1 Denpasar. This type of quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. The study was conducted in July-August 2024 with a total sampling technique of 78 people and the measuring instrument used was a questionnaire. Based on the statistical test between self-concept and sexual behavior with Spearman Rho, a p-value of 0.688 was obtained, so there was no significant relationship between Self-concept and sexual behavior. While the results of the statistical test between self-control and sexual behavior obtained a p-value of 0.00 and there was a significant relationship between Self-control and sexual behavior. It can be concluded that sexual behavior is more related to self-control than self-concept.
